Insect Tribe Illustrations

For these illustrations I was inspired by the so called “zombie ants” and other insects that exist in some remote rainforests. The insects are infected by a fungus spore which causes them to behave strangely and eventually sprout mushrooms and tendrils.

I decided to portray these insects as part of a small group of outcasts and developed each character around different tribal roles. I used elements that I felt an insect tribe might have on hand to conceptualize their clothing.

I am really happy with how these turned out and I would like to continue to build this universe in the future with additional characters and conflicts.
